Share your home, enrich your life
Co-living brings companionship, practical support and peace of mind - while you stay independent in the home you love.
Book a home visit

Co-living is about more than making use of a spare room - it's about bringing warmth, companionship, and everyday support back into your home. By opening your door to a younger sharer, you gain practical help, peace of mind for you and your family, and the chance to stay independent in the home you love.
What you gain through co-living
Companionship and Connection
Combat loneliness with genuine daily interaction. Share meals, conversations, walks, and moments that make your home feel alive again. Co-living brings warmth, energy and security back into daily life.
Light Help with Daily Tasks
Get support with cooking, shopping, errands, light housework, gardening, or lifts to appointments - 10 hours per week of help that keeps you independent and makes daily life easier.
Peace of Mind and Security
Know that someone is there. Overnight presence, help on hand if you need it, and the reassurance that comes with a fully vetted, supported living arrangement. Peace of mind for you and your family.
Empowerment
Empowerment is about more than support; it’s about possibility. Create a living situation that lifts people up, helping them, and you, regain confidence, maintain independence and step into a brighter, more fulfilling future.
Stay in Your Own Home
Age in place comfortably without moving to a care facility or downsizing. Co-living helps you maintain independence and can delay or remove entirely the need for costly residential care.
Intergenerational Exchange
Gain fresh perspectives, help with technology, and new points of view. Co-living isn't one-sided - it's an exchange that enriches both lives.

Your journey with PorchLight
Complete our online form telling us about your property, what kind of help you'd like, and your preferences. Takes 5 minutes.
We visit your home to discuss your needs, assess the room available, and answer all your questions. This is where we help you understand what to expect.
We complete ID and verification checks, DBS screening, review agreements and contracts, and prepare everything needed for a smooth match. If you need help preparing the room, we can assist.
Based on your interests, lifestyle, and preferences, we match you with suitable sharers through personality matching and interviews. You'll meet them before deciding - you're in full control of who lives in your home.
Once you've chosen someone, we finalise agreements and house guidelines. Your new sharer moves in, and you begin a 2 week trial period to ensure compatibility.
We provide 24/7 support with regular check-ins and meetings to monitor the partnership. If any issues arise, we offer mediation and help resolve things quickly. If the arrangement doesn't work out, we'll find you another match at no extra cost.
What's expected from you
Co-living works best when expectations are clear from the start. Here's what we ask of homeowners:
Provide a furnished private room with lockable door
Welcome a sharer into your shared living spaces & maintain a safe and welcoming home environment
Agree on light help and support of 10 hours per week
Communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully.
Respect the home sharer's independent lifestyle, work, studies and social commitments.
What's included
What does light help look like?
Every co-living arrangement is different. Here are some of the ways sharers typically contribute:
Is co-living right for you?
Co-living works best for homeowners who:
Live alone and value companionship
Have a spare room you'd like to make use of
Are open to sharing your home and daily life
Would benefit from light help with tasks
Want to stay independent in your own home
Would like peace of mind for you and your family
Your questions answered
What if the sharer and I don't get along?
That's what the 2 week trial period is for. Either party can end the arrangement during the trial without penalty, and we'll find you another match at no extra cost.
What kind of help can I expect?
Sharers typically help with cooking, shopping, light housework, companionship, gardening, lifts to appointments, petcare, or help with technology - 10 hours per week. Specific tasks are agreed between you before move-in.
Do I need insurance?
We recommend informing your home insurance provider. Most policies cover lodgers, but it's important to check.
Can I choose who lives in my home?
Absolutely. We match you with suitable candidates through personality matching and interviews, but you meet them before deciding. You're in full control.
What if I need help preparing the room?
We can provide guidance and support to help you get the room ready. We'll discuss this during your home visit.
What happens if I want to stop?
You can end the arrangement with proper notice (usually 4 weeks). If it's during the trial period, you can end it immediately. We're here to support you through the process.
What support do I get after move-in?
We provide 24/7 support, regular check-ins, and scheduled meetings to monitor the partnership. You'll have a single point of contact for any household issues, and we offer mediation if needed.
